Quad Super Six's New Single and Music video "Shine On You"

Quad Super Six is back with a NEW Single "Shine On You" accompanied with a sick ass music video with a lot of strobe lights and cool guitars, reminds me of those old Warhol Velvet Underground videos where you can barely tell what's going on but everything looks cool and magical (ex: what goes on and white light white heat).

"Shine On You" has bright splashy guitars and catchy bass lines and feels like some bright energetic powerpop kinda shit that makes you wanna run through a field on a sunny day or drive real fast on the highway with the windows down. Reminds me of Spacemen 3 or The Stone Roses or smtn like that. Also sick ass album cover with the Fender Super Six pic, always wanted to play one of those ever since i found a picture of one on tumblr a long time ago. Apparently they have a couple more singles coming out in the next few months, with an album on the way at the beginning of Next Year. The Band is based out of Southern California and consists of Mason Hubbard, The Eclectic Getz brothers Jake and Riley Getz (whom you may have known from bands like MOSS!, Form and Micron), Tommy Di Ilio and Austin Tesio. The Group has developed their sound over years of playing in bands together in many different genres and they're really hyped about this new and exciting chapter of new music.

Knowing the bands they've been in and a lot of the shit they've done, i'm personally extremely hyped and can't wait to hear all this great new music. In that excitement i got a chance to talk to Jake who plays guitar for Quad Super Six and got to hear a bit more about the band and their plans and background.

1 - Who's in Quad Super Six and how'd you guys all meet and get together?

Quad Super Six is Mason Hubbard on six string, Jake getz on twelve string, Tommy Di Ilio on bass, Riley Getz on drums/percussion and Austion Tesio on bongos/percussion. We all met each other by going to shows when we were in high school and Jake and Riley have been together since birth. We've been playing in bands together for as long as we've been playing music but this one has been really fun and exciting.

2 - What are the main bands that you guys are into collectively as a group?

Our main inspiration comes from The Jesus and Mary Chain, Spacemen 3, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, as well as 60's rock n roll and the 90's Manchester scene

3 - Any of you guys own a Fender Super Six?

No Super Six yet but we do have a Quad, buy the record when it comes out and maybe we can afford both

4 - Why'd you go with the name Quad Super Six?

It sounds cool haha and we love really dumb, loud amps

5 - Where are you guys based out of?

Half the band lives in Los Angeles, the other half in Orange County. We practice in my garage in Los Angeles and recorded the record at Jazz Cats in Long Beach.

6 - You guys got any shows lined up?

We're working on getting some shows together but mainly focused on writing more songs at the moment

7 - You got a general timeline in mind for an album release?

Album will be out next year but not too sure when that will be

8 - You guys fuck with Powerpop?

A lot of new bands are doing the power pop thing which is cool to see. Definitely a timeless genre which still has a lot of potential for new ideas.

9 - Is There a name for this mystery album yet?

The album is going to be called Cheetah Print Butterfly

10 - What are some other local bands around your area that you guys fuck with?

Been kind of out of the loop recently but theres always lots of new and exciting bands playing around LA. Some favorites would be our friends Uni Boys, Semit Trucks, Private Eye, and Sunday Mourners.

Follow up questions:

  • I saw that theres a whole other album from 2019 that i hadn't noticed before and am excited to listen to as well, how are things different now with "Shine On You" and these new songs opposed to that album from 2019?

The first album Mason wrote and recorded himself in 2019 then last year we got together and started playing those songs as a 3 piece. We played a few shows but since the songs were already a couple years old, we started writing new songs which reflect more of the bands we're into these days. We also added Tommy and Austin which make the live sound a lot bigger.

  • Also who's singing in the band?

Mason sings most of the songs on the record and i sing in a few. I think everybody contributed some type of vocals on the record.

Check out the "Shine On You" Music Video !! Its awesomee!!
